The Nokia Bureaucracy
First of all, I didn’t write stuff here for a while, sorry. I was busy finishing my Bachelor thesis about mobile advertising, I’ll tell you all about in a week or so. But first I need to deal with a big frustration about Nokia:
You are probably all familiar with this. You just bought a new phone and it turns out to be cursed. I experienced this with my freshly bought Nokia N95 8GB in December. At first I couldn’t log on to any Wi-Fi network, although this was a minor problem it kind of frustrated me. Besides this I experienced a lot of problems with PC-suite, but I don’t think that’s very surprising, since PC-suite is just a crappy piece of software of which you always hope you’ll never really need it. The real trouble began back in March when all the sudden the screen started flickering and eventually died. I had no idea how this happened.
The next day I brought it to the Nokia Care Center Amsterdam, they told me they could probably fix it but were still waiting on the necessary part that wasn’t delivered yet. I would take a couple of days. It took longer. After two weeks the part they needed to repair my phone arrived (three weeks late) and it turned out that they couldn’t fix it. They sent it to Nokia Care Netherlands. They needed another three weeks to discover that they couldn’t fix it either. They sent it to Nokia Care Europe. They fixed it or replaced it, it took them ten days. They sent it back to Nokia Care Netherlands, it’s there now, they will send it to some company named Dynafix. Dynafix will send it to the particular Nokia Care Center where I handed in my phone two months ago. Then they will call me. I’m still waiting.
Now how do I know all this? At first I called Nokia Care Amsterdam to ask them how much longer it would take. The guy told me he couldn’t track my phone, I had to call with Nokia Netherlands. Over there a grumpy lady of Nokia Netherlands told me all of the above, she couldn’t see if my phone was fixed or replaced.
I understand that phones break down every once in a while, that’s not why I’m angry. I have two major complaints. First, why are there two repair centers that can’t repair or just replace a phone screen? And second, why does it to take two g*dd*mn months to repair it?! This is just bad customer management. I bought a Nokia N95 8GB, so I’m obviously a big important customer and Nokia obviously makes a lot of money out of me. I just can’t put up with this poor service. My next phone surely won’t be a Nokia.

Sorry to hear about your Nokia experience, just make sure your next phone isn’t going to be a Samsung either. I bought the new samsung i780. After using the device for about two months, I ran into a software problem. So I called samsung customer service hoping to get this resolved. Samsung could not help me, for some reason they don’t have the software for my phone even though it is a samsung device. It gets worse, after sending me to about three useless service points around Amsterdam, none of them could help me or had the software for my device. Phone-House agreed to send my phone to Dynafix for two weeks repair. Even though I still have one year warranty on my phone, i agreed to pay about 80 euros for this service. My phone is currently on the way to Dynafix. I felt violated, Samsung surely made a lot profit from me, but could not provide good customer service when I needed it.
I got so frustrated, not because my phone broke down, but because samsung could not do anything to help my situation. I still get to pay for the service provided by third party despite having warranty, this device cost 450 euros, and yet not customer service. Thanks for nothing Samsung!

@El1 Unbelievable that you had to pay 80 euro’s despite the one year warranty. I just can’t take it that all those phone manufacturers make the most wonderful phones that do the most wonderful things, but totally neglect the service aspect. Isn’t it ridiculous that while half the world owns a phone, whenever there’s a problem with a phone it still takes 30+ days and more than one repair centre to get it properly fixed?
